Everyone is welcome. Area residents who are uninsured or underinsured and meet certain income guidelines may be eligible for a free mammogram. Most health insurances are also accepted.
“It is important for area women to have access to affordable mammograms,” said Heather Saffle, RN, BSN, Health Center Manager, Monroe Family Health Center. “We are pleased that the Ohio State University Breast Health Connection Project mobile unit is willing to come to Woodsfield. It is a great service for our community.”
Mammography is the most effective screening tool used today to find breast cancer in women. The American Cancer Society recommends monthly breast self-examinations, physician exams and annual mammograms after the age of 40 to detect breast cancer. However, the benefits of mammography vary by age. If you have questions regarding your need for a mammogram talk to your health care provider.
Extra precautions will be taken to keep patients safe. Patients will register at a table outside of the mobile unit and asked to wait outside or in their car until their appointment. All surfaces will be disinfected between patients.
Early detection saves lives. If you have questions or to schedule an appointment, please call Sherri Smith at 844-284-PINK (7465).
