Dr. Holly Overmiller Joins Ohio Hills Health Services

Posted 09/23/19

Dr. Holly Overmiller has joined the medical staff at Ohio Hills Health Services (OHHS) effective September 3, 2019. Dr. Overmiller is a graduate of West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her residency at Adena Health Systems, Chillicothe, Ohio.

“We are extremely pleased to have Dr. Overmiller as part of our healthcare team,” said Russell Lee-Wood, MD, Medical Director, OHHS. “She is enthusiastic about working in a rural setting and as an osteopathic physician her skills providing Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy will be a real asset for our patients.”

Dr. Overmiller grew up outside of Beckley, WV in a medical household. Her father is a general surgeon and her mother is a physical therapist. In addition, her brother is an emergency room physician and her sister a physical therapist, so pursing a healthcare field was a natural career path for her.

“I was attracted to OHHS as I would like a practice where I can work with the entire family and I can get to know my patients,” said Overmiller. “I view my role as educating patients about ways to stay healthy as well as treating them when they are ill.”

As a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Overmiller can provide Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) which is a hands-on technique to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. Using OMT, a physician moves a patient’s muscles and joints using techniques that include stretching, gentle pressure and resistance.  OMT can help people of all ages and backgrounds. The treatment can be used to ease pain, promote healing and increase overall mobility. The treatment can also help patients with a number of other health problems such as asthma, sinus problems, carpal tunnel syndrome, and migraines.

“We are excited to have Dr. Overmiller join our team,” said Jeff Britton, OHHS, CEO. “She brings a great set of skills with her. Initially she oriented with Dr. Lee-Wood at the Barnesville Family Medical Center, but she is now practicing at the Monroe Family Health Center with the possibility of expanding to Caldwell.”

Dr. Overmiller will provide OMT services at all 4 OHHS sites- Barnesville, Freeport, Quaker City, and Woodfield.

Volunteer work has played an important role in Dr. Overmiller’s life. She has been actively involved with International Christian Resources (ICR) and accompanied them on a number of mission trips to locations in Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru and Guatemala. She spoke of how rewarding it is to be able to give back and to make a real difference in the lives of others.
